This may be a silly question, but I still kinda new to the whole art of couponing and the “Catalina” deals overwhelm me a bit…but here’s my question:
Does the “$20 worth” part of the deal mean that I actually spend $20 on products? Or does it count the original/retail price of the items I buy (before sales/coupons, etc?)
In other words (taking the above Pillsbury sweet roll example) if I can get them down to as low as $1 with coupons, etc., would I need to buy 20 of them to qualify for the $7 oyno, or 10 of them at the sale price? or better yet, does it count the regular price of the item towards the $20 total?

Most stores (including ACME) count the original/retail price of the items towards the catalina. So using your example with the pillsbury sweet rolls you only need to buy 10 to qualify for the $20 dollar worth. If you have to meet the dollar limit after using coupons (Redner’s warehouse markets does it this way) it will usually say so in the store’s sale flyer. Just remember that you can only get one like catalina deal per transacation. In other words, if you are going to buy $40 worth of items you should have two separate transactions so you will get the catalina reward twice. I hope this helps!
I actually got 2 catalinas for $7 off each, in one transaction today.
woo hoo! I am hoping that the .95 off Pillsbury sweet rolls haven’t expired yet! Off to my coupon stash!
I purchased 10 Weight Watchers Smart Ones meals that were on sale for $1.99 (reg. $3.99), one of them had a $4 off coupon if you purchased 10 meals. That brought my cost down to $16.00 for 10 meals. Then ACME topped it off with a $10 coupon toward my next purchase. That brings the meals down to 60 cents each! Can’t beat it!
The .95 off Pillsbury Sweet Rolls didn’t expire yet so that makes for some even more tasty breakfasts!
What a great trip to ACME today! I walked out with 6 Knorr Pasta Side Dishes, 2 boxes of Cheerios, 3 boxes of Wheaties (haven’t eaten these since I was a kid; hope I am not disappointed, since all foods from those days seem to taste differently these days), 2 boxes of Fiber One bars, 2 boxes of Chex bars, 1 bag of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters, and 2 Pillsbury Grands. After all my coupons, I paid $23.65, and I received (2) $7 catalina’s.
I figure that out to about $.54 for each item….. My best trip to ACME yet!
