I’ve been meaning to post this giveaway for almost a month now!! Look for more giveaways to come, because I have a whole desk full of stuff!
Over the past seven years, Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories has given away more than 35 million children’s books by distributing them FREE inside cereal boxes and has donated nearly $3 million to First Book, their non-profit partner, which provides books to children from low-income families.
In addition to encouraging children to read, Cheerios is looking for anyone interested in writing children’s books. Now in its third year, the Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories New Author Contest is a way to encourage previously unpublished, up-and-coming children’s book authors and to continue to nurture a love of reading. Entries are being accepted March 16 through July 15, 2009 and will be judged on appropriate story and content for children ages 3-8, emotional connection, writing quality, uniqueness, and read-aloud potential. More details on the contest can be found at http://www.spoonfulsofstoriescontest.com/.
I was thrilled to get 4 of the cutest books distributed by Cheerios, courtesy of MyBlogSpark. I think our favorite was Duck For President, but we loved them all! Two of the books were written in both Spanish and English, so it gave us a mini-opportunity to learn some Spanish!
Best of all, I have another set of these 4 books to give away!

Hey Mindi: My all time favorite book is “Guess How Much I Love You?” by Sam McBratney. The relationship portrayed by little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare is so accurate, just like a Mom and her child. I adore how the baby hare always tries to outdo his parent’s love for him/her but in the end the parent gets the last word by saying, “I love you right uo to the moon and back”, representing that unconditional, neverending love a parent feels for their child.
My kids love the book, “Why is Blue Dog Blue?” We checked it out from the library and then bought it for my youngest son for Christmas b/c he loved it so much. My oldest son loves any Clifford books.
So hard to choose just one! My favorites to read to my 4-year-old include I Love You, Stinky Face, Pinkalicious & its sequel Purplicious, The Brown-Bag Princess.
My favorites as a kid included the Pippi Longstocking series; Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day; Dr. Doolittle series; all of Ruth Chew’s books (I have an autographed letter from her that included a custom-drawn witch just for me) … I know there were others I loved and read again and again, but I’m drawing a blank now!
Thanks for entering me in the giveaway!

I love books, and I’m so thrilled my daughter does too. When I asked her yesterday what she would wish for if she had three wishes (we’d just watched an episode of Dragon Tales about that theme), she said books, books, and lots more books! She takes after her mom.
I’ve always loved Corduroy…….and now I read it to my two boys……..
