Not a whole lot of food coupons this week! The fears over the economy seem to have hit grocery stores recently (the sales haven’t been that good). I hope they don’t start spilling over in to the coupons as well! Is it just me, or would you think that with people being so scared about money, manufacturers would want to get more coupons out there for their products to stem the tide of people switching to generics in order to save money!
Here’s the link to the coupons this week
Coupons of note:
Beech-Nut baby food coupons: haven’t seen these for a long time. When my children were on baby food, we found that Beech-Nut was just as good as Gerber (and cheaper as well). Seriously – strained peaches are strained peaches, right?
Colgate Adult or Childrens Toothpaste: $.75 (While not on sale anywhere that I can see next week, Colgate is often easy to get for free or almost-free with a $.75 coupon, after doubling)
Dreamfields Pasta: $1 (cheap pasta is always good if you are trying to make a low-cost dinner!)
Halls Cough Drops (any 20+ count bag): $.50 (CVS has these for $1.50 next week and are part of the huge “Buy $20 Get $10 ECBs” deal)
Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers: $1 (this is a fairly new item and they are promoting it heavily in print and TV ads. That usually translates in to good sales at the store)
Healthy Choice Soups: $.75/2 (now that the weather is getting cooler, soup sales should be fairly common. If Healthy Choice follows the “10 for $10 trend”, this translates in to $.25 soup, after doubling)
Muir Glen Product: $.75 (use this to get free to almost free canned tomatoes)
Breeze2 Contour Meter: $30 (this coupon is valid for about 9 months. The last time they had this coupon was about 6 months ago and I clipped it and waited. Eventually CVS had a deal where the Meter was free after ECBs and rebate and I made $10 by buying it…and then just donated the meter. If you have diabetes and actually NEED a new meter, it’s on sale at CVS this week for $30, so you can get it for $0.00 OOP and not have to worry about waiting for the mail-in-rebate. And no – you can’t buy the meter, use the coupon and then get the rebate. You’ll just get a rejection letter!)
Duracell Coppertop Batteries: $.75 (Genuardis has a $2 off deal this week which can be stacked with this one which will be doubled. With 3 kids and Christmas coming, it’s time to start stocking up on cheap batteries!)
Playskool Diaper Product or 240-count Cottony Cloths: $2 (the diapers aren’t horrible as long as you go up a size if your child is “borderline” and the diapers are part of a CVS ECB deal. The coupon will also work on the wipes that are in the deal, but I don’t know the price – the price shown in the CVS circular is for the 160-count)
So that’s it! Not that great, but at least we have the Proctor & Gamble insert to look forward to next week.
How many papers would I buy?
If I were building my stockpile: 2-4 (and only because of the Breeze2 coupon)
Now that I am in stockpile-maintenance mode: 1-2

The Duracell coupon in the Inquirer was actually for $1.50 off one package. Might be also good to use at CVS for this coming week, as they are buy $15 dollars worth, get $5 back there.
$17.97 (3 packs — The 8 packs of AA and AAA are $5.99 each.)
- $4.50 (3 x $1.50 coupons)
= $13.47 OOP and get $5 ECB
The Halls coupon was $1.00 off 2. There may be other differences, but those are the ones that stuck out.
Thanks for this feature.
It seems that every week there’s at least one coupon I’m looking forward to and it’s not in my newspaper. This week it’s the Playskool one.
I’m hoping to score 1-2 copies of the coupons this week free again. The local coffee shop pulls them out for me, which is fantastic.
I’m looking forward to the Muir Glen, Mitchum deodorant (on sale at acme this week + coupon + it often shows up on my Avenue), and Healthy Choice Mixers. With the $1 doublers at Giant this week, it will make the HC thing .74 cents.
Thanks again, Mindi, for the post. I appreciate your time and effort to do this.
Hi,
Some other “frugal” sites are posting that if you buy the Bayer Breeze 2 or Contour Meter, on sale at CVS for $30, use the coupon and get it for free…that you can also send in the rebate form and get $30 back. Anyone know for sure? Mindi, you say you’ll get a rejection letter? Have you tried this?
No mitchum coupons for me today. Waah! I was stocked about $1 deodorant for DBF. Oh well.
However, I got Hanover beans coupons which is great – they are on sale at Acme this week. Great for some cheap, fast chili when I don’t have time to soak dried ones.
