Coupon Insert Preview: 1/31/10

As a reminder, the value of the coupons that you find in your newspaper may vary from the value in the provided link! In addition, all of the stores in my area double coupons up to $.99 (so a $.75 coupon has a value of $1.50). If the stores in your area don’t double or your paper is more expensive, you may not find the coupons as valuable as I do!

Check out Sunday Coupon Preview for the complete listing of coupons. There should be 2 inserts this week: a SmartSource and a RedPlum

Local Readers:  please remember that the Philadelphia Inquirer has stopped carrying the RedPlum insert.  Check the RedPlum websiteto see if there are other newspapers in your area that contain the RedPlum insert!

Don’t understand the terms or abbreviations that I use? Be sure to read my Coupon Lingo post!

Coupons of Note

Chock Full O’Nuts $0.75/1:  these go on sale for as low as $3.99 ea.

Colgate $0.50/1:  goes on sale for $1 to $1.50, making it free-to-super-cheap after doubling!

Daisy Brand Sour Cream $0.50/1:  goes on sale 3 for $5 all the time, making it $0.66 ea. after doubling!

Edy’s $1/1:  goes on sale for $2 to $2.50 all the time (and they have the best Butter Pecan!)

Egg-lands Best $0.35/1:  hold on to it until they are on sale for $1.99…after doubling, they end up being about the same as “regular” eggs

Fiber One 90 Calorie Chewy Bars $0.50/1:  goes on sale for $2

General Mills Cereals (select varieties) $1/2: there have been some great cereal sales lately!

Hershey Kisses, etc $2/2:  hold on to this until the day after Valentines Day and you should be able to get some super-cheap candy on clearance!

House Foods Tofu Shirataki $0.25/1:  this is the first time I have ever seen a coupon for these.  They are priced at about $1.99 at most stores and are a staple in Hungry Girl Recipes.  They aren’t for everyone, but I absolutely LOVE them

John Morrel Off The Bone lunchmeats B3G1F:  these go BOGO all the time (and frankly, right now my head is spinning trying to think how this would work….but I think at most stores a BOGO sale with this coupon means that you would get 4 for the price of 1?)

Marcal Small Steps FREE Single Towel, Tissue or Facial Tissue:  free is good

Pop Secret $.50/1:  these go as low as $1.25 (but more frequently $1.66), making them super-cheap after doubling

Smithfield Bacon $.55/1:  these go on sale BOGO all the time

Softsoap Liquid hand Soap $.35/1:  priced at $1 frequently, making them $3.30 ea. after doubling

Dove coupons:  should be able to combine these coupons with a good deal at Walgreens or CVS!

Hot Pockets Sideshots $0.75/1:  I’m not sure if these will be priced and follow the same sales as the “regular” Hot Pockets, but Hot Pockets go on sale for $2 or less every few weeks

Knorr Rice & Pasta Side Dishes $1/3:  we have had these coupons for a while!  The go on sale for $1 all the time

Lipton Tea Bags $0.60/1:  goes on sale for about $2.50

Skippy Peanut Butter $0.40/1:  goes on sale for about $1.66, making it $0.86 ea. after doubling!

Superpretzel $0.50/1:  these are priced at under $2 and they go on sale occasionally for as low as 3 for $5.  This coupon makes for some cheapo snacks after doubling

WishBone Dressings $1.25/2:  these go on sale for $1 all the time

Wisk laundry Detergent $2/1:  goes on sale for $3.99

So how many copies of the paper would I buy?

If I were building a stockpile: 4-5

Now that I am in stockpile-maintenance mode: 4-5

It’s not a bad week for coupons.  Not thrilling, but not bad.  There are a bunch of coupons that haven’t been released since before Thanksgiving, so it is nice to see them return.  On the whole, it’s a “1 paper per family member” week for us!

Carefully look at your coupons. Several of the coupons now say do not double, such as the colgate and soft soap.

  3. Great breakdown, Mindi. Thanks!

What is up with a lot of the coupons lowering their value and writing “do not double” on them, now? Ex the Colgate toothpaste only being $.35 off? It used to be a$.50 and I could end up getting toothpaste for free or $1?? I’m not liking this!!
