As I mentioned on the Moms Need To Know Facebook Fan page, 20+ giveaways in 1 day is a little much. With that in mind, let’s get this Dads Rock Giveaway Bash party started a little early and kick it off with a bang: with a Kindle DX ($489 value)!
I LOVE to read. LoveLoveLove it. So when the people at Amazon/Kindle offered to send me a Kindle DX to review, I jumped on the chance.
One of my favorite things about the summer is that it gives me more opportunities to read. With the lazier days and the family vacations (we drive everywhere and Brad is the driver), I spend quite a bit of time with a book in my hand. With the Kindle DX, I have the ability to carry 3500 books with me on those vacations.
One of the first books I downloaded was the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe….for free. Turns out that there over 1.8 million free, out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books available to read on Kindle, including titles such as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice, and Treasure Island. I had recently had a “debate” with a friend of mine about which Edgar Allen Poe story included killing a guy in the basement and within 60 seconds of receiving my Kindle, I was able to put that debate to rest (turns out there were a few of them….I don’t know what was up with Poe & basements)
Downloading books on the Kindle DX is a breeze. You don’t need a find a WiFi connection or pay any access fees…you have 3G wireless coverage at home and in over 100 countries! With a 9.7 inch auto-rotating screen, you can view full-width maps, graphs, tables, and Web pages. With the Kindle DX, I have instant access to over 540,000 books and the largest selection of the most popular books, including 96 of 112 New York Times Best Sellers, plus U.S. and international newspapers, magazines, and blogs.
Some other features of the Kindle DX include:
Longer Battery Life: Now read for up to 1 week on a single charge with wireless on, a significant improvement from the previous battery life of 4 days
Built-In PDF Reader: Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go
Read-to-Me: With the text-to-speech feature, Kindle DX can read newspapers, magazines, blogs, and books out loud to you, unless the book’s rights holder made the feature unavailable
Quite simply – if you love to read – the Kindle DX is a dream!

I would *love* to win this! I have been drooling over the kindles since a friend showed me theirs over a year ago.
I would probably put “Wind in the Willows” on it first, since I have downloaded that twice to my computer and never read it. Ebooks just aren’t that comfortable to read on a regular computer.
I added you to my google reader. Thanks for the Dad’s Rock giveaway bash – you all are awesome.
I want to win because I love to read, and a Kindle would be amazing. I’d download The girl who kicked the hornet’s nest first
I subscribe in google reader (Anne Jolly)

I would love to win it . Thanks for all the hard work you do showing us these deals.
I’d love to win this to give it to my husband for fathers day. He wants one so bad..
I subscribed to your emails. Thanks
I would love and so value a Kindle DX; actually, as corny as it sounds or not, my children and I are reading a series of books together or I shoudl say I am reading to them. We would continue our adventures of the Magic Time Machine by Mary Pope Osborne. My 4-1/2 year old is so “intrigued” with technology today and this would just captivate him.
I just subscribed to email subscription,
just facebooked,

I would dowload this Ministry of Motherhood and something for my hubby to read while relaxing on Father’s Day! Thanks so much for these FUN giveaways! You ROCK too!

Hi, hope i’m not too late to enter. My husband is the best dad in the world, he does everything he can to make our daughter happy. We live in the metro Detroit area and with the economy it is hard to keep steady work and I’m steady looking but it’s caused me to be short on cash. My daughter wants to make it a great father’s day for him so we would be grateful for any prize. Thanks so much.
