If you have any Bertolli coupons, RUN, don’t walk to your nearest Genuardi’s or any Safeway-owned store. There is a huge double-dip with Catalina deals and because of that, I was able to walk out of the store with $203.86 worth of groceries and $26 in Catalinas for only $20.64 out-of-pocket
How?
First, there is the Living Well, Feel Great Catalina Deal going on where you get $10 OYNO wyb $30 in participating products. There is also a “get $2 OYNO wyb 2 Bertolli pouches”. They are on sale for $2 each and the Catalina deal is not limited per transaction (so if you buy 16 pouches in 1 transaction, you get 8 $2 Catalinas!). The Bertolli Catalina deal is good through 4/22. Bertolli pouches are part of the Living Well Catalina deal!
(note: I probably could have done this with less out-of-pocket, but I had a crappy day and wasn’t in the mood to pull out my calculator and be more creative. I should also note that the $203 is based on the “regular prices” and that I would never actually pay those prices, but I know that many people would and do! I have a whole bunch of other coupons that match up for the ongoing deal, but this is what I came up with for a quick trip to Genuardi’s. Will post more deals and scenarios as I do them this week)
Here are my transactions
Transaction 1
8 Finish/Electrasol at $3.99 each (regular Price: $47.97)
Coupons: 8 $2.50/1 from the 4/19 SS
Total after sale and before coupons: $31.92
Total OOP: $13.84
received a $10 catalina
Transaction #2
16 Bertolli Pouches at $2.00 (regular Price: $50.40)
Coupons: 11 $.60 from the 4/5 Unilever (all doubled) and 5 $1 from the 4/5 Unilever and the $10 Catalina from transaction #1
Total after Sale and before coupons: $32
Total OOP: $3.80
Received a $10 Catalina and 8 $2 Catalinas
Transaction #3
6 Bertolli Pouches at $2, Skippy Peanut Butter at $2.50, 8 Capri Sunrise at $1.99 (regular Price: $42.09)
Coupons used: 8 $1 Capri Sunrise from the 4/19 SS, 1 $.40 Skippy from the 4/5 Unilever, 1 $.50 Genuardi’s Skippy coupon from a home mailer, 6 $1 Bertolli coupons from the 4/5 Unilever, $10 Catalina from transaction #2, 2 $2 Catalinas from transaction #2
Total after sale and before coupons: $30.42
Total OOP: $1.10
Received: 10 Catalina and 3 $2 Catalinas
Transaction #4
Kashi Frozen Meal: $4.49, 9 Breyers Ice Cream at $3 (regular Price: 63.40)
Coupons used: 9 $.75 Breyers from the 4/5 Unilever, 1 Free Kashi Entree coupon (home mailer from about 3 weeks ago, but the maximum for the coupon was $4.09), $10 Catalina from Transaction #3 and one of the $2 Bertolli Catalinas
Total after sale and before coupons: $31.49
Total OOP: $1.90
Received a $10 Catalina (actually, it didn’t print out but I confirmed with CS that everything I got was part of the deal. The manager there didn’t know what to do, so she wrote “did not receive Catalina” on my receipt and I will go in to talk to my “regular manager” there and will get my Catalina or a gift card then! I’ve confirmed that what I got matched the list, so if the Genuardi’s manager doesn’t give me the Catalina, a quick call to the Catalina company will!)
I am still a bit behind on my clipping and the Living Well Feel Better Catalina deal is still going on for a few weeks. My children LOVE Capri Sun and I can always use dishwashing detergent, so I am debating going back to the Dollar Tree in the morning to get more copies of the 4/19 paper. With the Electrasol coupon and Electrasol being included in the deal, it makes for a good deal! (edited to add: after sleeping on it, I’m not getting more papers…..so my local readers don’t have to worry about racing me to the Dollar Tree!)
To see more scenarios for this deal, check out the posts in the Mr. Linky here
Don’t forget to share any scenarios that you have come up with for this deal! Post them in the comments!

Way to go, that sounds awesome, like something I need to try. Thanks for the heads up and for putting the transactions up!!
I am heading today with all my coupons in tow, I am glad I have 15 copies of the 04/05 paper. I will try to come up with something on my own too!
funny thing – I only bought 6 or 7 copies of that paper, but I got lucky and 1 of them had about 7 extra copies of the Unilever insert!
Amazing! I do have a question though. I am fairly new to such savings. How many papers do you buy per week to get all of these coupons?
The number of papers that I buy each week varies, depending on what coupons are included.
Each Saturday at 9:00am I publish a “Coupon Insert Preview” and at the very end of that post, I always list how many papers I will be buying that week. Hope this helps!
I wish I had this store nearby! What great deals!
That’s pretty sweet! I’m jealous of all the ice cream you bought – I’ve been craving it, but haven’t found a good deal on it.
Oh, and something that you didn’t mention is that the Bertolli, Skippy and Breyers all count for the Unilever Spend $40 on products, get a free ham or turkey rebate. You almost qualified with your Bertolli alone! =)
Oh boy–I didn’t know the Breyers was part of the deal. This is wonderful (or terrible) news for me!
Thanks for linking up at Moneywise Moms with your great scenarios. Shannon–instead of coming up with something on your own, check out Mindi’s and then other scenarios on the Mr. Linky Mindi mentions at the bottom of the post.
Just a reminder: check the list for the exact flavors of Breyers that are included. My store had the white tags on all the flavors, but only certain ones were on the list (link to the list is in this post as well as on MoneyWise Moms).
I got a $10 gift card today because it didn’t print out. I guess it didn’t print because it wasn’t the exact flavors from the list, but even so, the fact that there were white tags on every flavor would have given me a reason to argue if they hadn’t given me the gift card (not that I wanted to argue…I love the manager at my Genuardi’s!)
Now I remember why I don’t shop at Genuardis! They didn’t have electrasol or the bertolli pouches!
(hoping that Shannon doesn’t shop at my store because I left Bertolli pouches, but only the ones with olives and mushrooms because….seriously…yuck!)
The Bertolli pouches are on the top shelf at my store. The Electrasol tablets were shoved all the way at the end of the aisle, in one very thin column.
They are BOTH very easy to miss!
Mindi,
I don’t shop at yours on a regular basis, but thanks fors saving me a trip over there tomorrow, because who wants the olives and mushrooms echhhkkk! I asked the manager and he looked with me and NOPE none, nada, zero. I am going to try Phoenixville tomorrow. I went to the Lionville store and they pretty much stink!
Thanks Mindi. That does help!
This was a good deal at Genuardis this week.
I needed to do 2 orders to benefit from the Catalina’s.
I went to the register and explained to the cashier that I was splitting my order to benefit from the Cat’s. She rolled her eyes. Looks like I picked a winner!!
My first order came to $33 and then I spent $10 in coupons. She told me that I wouldn’t be getting a Cat because I didn’t spend $30…only $20. I had to explain to her that coupons are a form of payment. She said “I don’t think so”….imagine the suprise on her face when the Cat coupon came out!!!! I LOVE it!
My 2nd order didn’t spit out the Cat and she said that you probably only get 1 per day. I went right over to Cust serv and they gave me a $10 coupon right on the spot….without checking the receipt. I DID check receipt and legitimately spent $30 on specified items.
So the Cat money – I spent on produce that I never have coupons for.
So I got $121.35 worth of groceries for $37 out of pocket.
What a thrill!!!
Now….I have enough spaghetti sauce (Classico, my favorite brand) to last me till next Spring…

That is impressive! Still learning the ropes but had another great ACME shopping trip today (about 60% savings). I had no idea they would double a coupon up past the price of the actual item. They paid me .49 a piece to take the Kotex out of the store.
)
There is a Safeway close by (actually right across the street from the Acme) that I have never stepped foot in but if I have enough coupons and I can figure something out I will give it a shot!
I am quickly learning I am not buying enough papers! Keep getting to the Dollar Tree too late on Sunday to get more than two.
Off to clip yesterday’s coupons. Thanks Mindy.
Ok, so I REALLY wish we had a Dollar Tree in KoP. Sigh. But, there are still good deals to be had! I was going to pass on this week, but lots of people are blogging their Safeway deals, so I got sucked in.

So 25.00 for all that. Woo hoo!! More coupons would have made for better deals, but I just can’t bring myself to buy more than 2 papers at 1.75 each. I do get inserts from one of my neighbors, but maybe I will start buying 1 or 2 more on the really good weeks.
FYI, my store did not have the Reynolds recycled foil, but supposedly that is also on the list. There were .55/1 insert coupons and there are .50/1 ips. Price is 2.29 I think.
