"Walk in to any Costco or Sams Club on a Saturday afternoon and see how people completely lose their minds over the chance to sample 1/12 of a Hot Pocket if you need proof!"

LMAO!!!!!

I have an e-mail address that I use for freebies. As you warn, it has become a spam magnet. I'm cautious and aware along the lines that you describe as far as giving out my mailing address too. I don't want to end up receiving mountains of junk mail.

Great post, thanks! I do take advantage of lots and lots of free trials that require my credit card in fact, I've recently earned over $400 by doing so: http://momsbyheart.blogspot.com/2009/01/shine-in-2009-finance-edition_17.html
So far, no problems cancelling. I am very careful though. I'm always sure to keep detailed records of when I cancel, who I speak to, and I always request email verification of my cancellation so I have written proof. I also have a separate account that I use exclusively for these offers so the amount of money they have access to is very limited. Also, my debit card allows me to dispute charges and so the only risk I take is inconvenience. My humble little two cents is that these trials can be great!
