I found out the most interesting thing on Friday….we live between Harrisburg and York and get the Harrisburg newspaper. A new Giant opened in Manchester, just north of York, so we went down there Friday night. I had planned my grocery list off the flyer that was in the Harrisburg paper. We get down there to find that the York stores have a different flyer with different prices! And, luckily, many of the items were better. So, if we’re now going to shop at that store, I either need to get a York paper (more coupons!) or start looking at their flyer online so I know the prices. Just had to share that with you. ;-)

  2. Fairy Dust says:

Our Giant in Central PA is advertising Perdue roaster chickens for 79-cents/lb, Cheez-Its for $2, and Kraft salad dressing for $1.50.

  3. Melissa says:

I live in the Quakertown area and have experienced the same different ad issues with Giant. Most of the time its just the same things on sale but at different price points. The other interesting thing I’ve noticed is that the Giants which used to be Clemens’ Supermarkets have a different coupon policy. They double anything up to $.99 at face value so a $.75 coupon is worth $1.50. The Giants that have always been Giants will take the same $.75 coupon and double it to have a value of $1.00. The former Clemen’s will also double each coupon, but the other stores don’t. So if I’m buying 2 of the same item and have 2 coupons they will only double the first. The Clemen’s Giants don’t seem to double internet coupons, but the other stores do. Has anyone else experienced the same issues??

  4. Jenn says:

I am in Harleysville, and the GIANT by me in the Walmart shopping center used to be a Clemens. Unfortunately, they go with the GIANT policy and only double one like coupon up to $1.00. They just changed a few months ago-guess they caught on that they were doing it the wrong way!!! Makes me want to go to ACME (which I do) that much more!!!!!!! They take and double everything!!!!!!!!!

  5. Rachel says:

The Giant I frequent most used to be a Clemens. They will double the first (less than $1) coupon they will double (up to 1.98, but does anyone really see coupons for $0.99 anymore?) and all the rest are not doubled. The other Giant, which was always a Giant, follows the same policy.

  6. Mindy says:

Free TicTac Chill with coupon in the paper OR the new printable on RedPlum.
    Sale 2/$2 – coupon is $1 off 1.

  7. Melissa says:

So I emailed Giant about the coupon issue and they confirmed that they do have two coupon policies. I guess I know where I’ll be doing more of my shopping now! :) This is their answer for anyone who may be interested.

I apologize for any confusion about our coupon policy. Our store in Coopersburg is up to .50 cent will double up to a .50 cent coupon and our store in Quakertown is up to .99 cent will douple up to a .99cent coupon.

    COUPON POLICY:

The customer must purchase the item to which the coupon applies. Coupons must not be expired. A store coupon and a vendor coupon may be redeemed on the same item. If the combined value of the vendor coupon exceeds the items retail price, the item is free. The vendor (manufacturers) coupon will be deducted first then the store coupon will be adjusted so that it does not exceed the price of the item. Coupon can be redeemed on damaged or discontinued merchandise that has been reduced. We do not accept coupons from competitors, altered or tampered (i.e. expiration date cut off) or Xerox copied coupons. The value of the coupon may not exceed the price of the item.

    DOUBLE COUPON POLICY:

In order for a coupon to be doubled, the Customer must use their Bonus Card. The Double Coupon Policy does not apply to FREE coupons, Catalina coupons, store coupons or any competitors coupons. The total doubled value can not exceed the price of the item. Only one coupon for the same item will be doubled, all other will be redeemed at face value. (Example: 12 cans of Hi-C punch, 1 coupon will be doubled, 11 will be redeemed at face value) Only one like coupon will be doubled. (.50 cent stores) All coupons with a face value up to and including .50 cents will be doubled. Example: A .50 cent coupon will be doubled to $1. All coupons with a face value from .51 cents to .99 cents will be altered to $1. (.99 cent stores) A .99 cent coupon will be doubled to $1.98. All coupons with a face value of $1 or more will be redeemed for the face value only.

    INTERNET COUPONS:

Same policy as our Coupon Policy applies. We do accept internet coupons with the following exceptions: Coupon value can not exceed $5. and No FREE item coupons.
