Today is Mega Swagbucks day!
What does that mean? It means that they will be awarding Swagbucks in $10, $20, $50 & $100 increments today! If you signed up for Swagbucks and keep forgetting to use it, today would be a good day to jump back in! Ditto if you have to sign up!
I’ve talked about Swagbucks before and I really do love them. If you aren’t using Swagbucks, you SHOULD BE!
I usually just get $5 Amazon Gift Cards (at 45 Swagbucks, it really is the best deal) and stick them in my Amazon.com account. I’ve got a nice little “Amazon.com Nest Egg” right now….I’m holding on to it for Christmas Shopping!
Thanks for the heads-up Shannon!

Do you have issues with Amazon.com trying to apply your gift cards and not letting you choose another form of payment? I ordered an X-box Live Points virtual gift card, and it would NOT let me NOT use those gift certificates. I ended up using the seller account I share with my SO to buy them because I didn’t want to use up my nest egg.
I’m actually half considering using my gift cards to buy more gift cards, then starting another Amazon account just to stash my gift cards in– one of my giftcards already got used when SO used the TiVo to order a movie. >:(
I’ve never tried to use another form of payment if I had gift cards in my account…..but wouldn’t there just be a “use another funding source” tab that you could check?
That’s really strange that they wouldn’t let you do that! I’m not sure what to tell you
There normally is, as I’ve discovered since writing this, but apparently that particular service (ordering things through Microsoft through Amazon) doesn’t, for some reason, let you change funding sources. You can put in your CC#, but if you have gift certificates, it uses them. Also, things like movies ordered from a TiVo, or I guess other “automatic” type things will automatically apply the gift card to the purchase. I guess it’s just something to watch out for when stashing gift cards– normally, it’s not a problem, unless you do something weird (like buy Xbox Live points or movies directly from your TV through Amazon.)
I’ll just have to be extra careful from now on!
hey Mindi,
I am trying to love swag bucks but I cannot seem to make any extra swag bucks then the occasional one buck win for searching – how do you get so many ???
Hi! When you say that “I usually just get $5 Amazon Gift Cards (at 45 Swagbucks, it really is the best deal) and stick them in my Amazon.com account.”, what exactly do you mean? I have earned 3 so far, but just let them in my swagbucks account figuring I will use them when I get more.
Can I actually add them to my Amazon account and not use them till I have more? They won’t ever expire if I do that?
Thanks for your response.
Karen
Hi Karen!
You can add them to your Amazon account with no problem! Once you are logged in to your Amazon account, click on “Your Account”. In the Payment section, click on “Apply a Gift Certificate/Card to Your Account”. Then just copy & paste the code for each Amazon.com gift card from your Swagbucks account in to the provided space. It will just show up as a credit to your Amazon.com account.
After that, any time you shop on Amazon.com it will use any gift card balance and apply it to your purchase!
I just get in the habit of, as soon as I get the email from Swagbucks saying that my Gift Card posted to my account, going in and putting the code in to my Amazon.com account.
And then as soon as you have put the code in your Amazon.com account, just go back to the “My Gift Cards” section of your Swagbucks account and mark the Gift card as used (even though you didn’t use it to buy anything yet, since the code has been applied to your Amazon.com account, it is considered “used”)
HTH!
