You can pick from Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Parenting, ODE (never heard of this one), Field & Stream and Popular Mechanics. You can even get all 5! More choices are coming soon.
What’s the catch? You just have to watch a whole bunch of commercials on your computer. At the end of each one (anywhere from 30 seconds to 2.5 minutes), you have 30 seconds do one of “type the letters you see in the box” things to verify that you are still at your computer and not off doing dishes when you should be viewing the ads.
Of course, if you have Tabbed Browsing, you can always keep working on something else on your computer while the commercial is playing and click back over to enter the code as soon as you hear that it is over….not that I would know from personal experience or anything!
But some of the commercials are actually kind of cute! The ones that I had to watch/listen to in order to get Redbook were mainly for those “As seen on TV” products…and now I think I want a PedEgg!
Oh – I should mention that the number of commercials vary with the magazine. I had to watch 12 for Good Housekeeping and 24 for Redbook (but some of the commercials count as “doubles”). I think I spent a total of 30 minutes total listening to them as I worked on another tab of my browser!
