Sears/Lands End/Kmart: $50 Gift Card Giveaway! (2 winners)

sears-gift-card

This was supposed to be a video post (my first), but you know what happens when anyone points a camera at me or just PLANS to point a camera at me?  I get a big honkin’ zit on my face.  And since I never claimed to be anything but vain, we’ve got a text post for you!

Anyway…..

About 2 weeks ago, I was contacted by the people at Sears asking me if I wanted to try out their new gift cards.  What is so great about their gift cards?  They can be used interchangeably!  If you get a gift card from Sears?  It can be used at Sears, Lands End AND Kmart (both online and “real stores”).

So what was my challenge?  To see how many gifts I could buy for $200!

And here’s what I got (note:  if you are related to me and participating in the family pollyanna, you might want to stop reading right now):

First stop was Sears

Clothes:  We have always managed to get great deals in children’s clothes at Sears.  We picked up a few “princess PJs” for my daughter, grabbed her from under the rack and were on our way to the next department.

Tools:  and here is where a fight ensued as my husband decided that he needed that shiny thingamajig (sorry to be so technical).  After I explained to him that this was a Christmas shopping trip and not a “let’s get more shiny thingamajigs that will collect dust but look pretty in the toolbox” trip  I won!

Holiday:  I know that this was supposed to be for gifts, but I couldn’t resist…..we grabbed a few decorations for the tree and were off again.

Kitchen:  I wanted to get an AeroGarden.  A fight ensued as my husband explained to me that this was a Christmas shopping trip and not a “let’s get more shiny thingamajigs that will collect dust but look pretty in the kitchen” trip.  I lost!

The next stop was Lands End (which is actually a section in my Sears)

It was here that I hit the jackpot!  By this time, the kids were driving everyone within a 100 foot radius crazy, so my husband took the kids to the car while I spent time browsing for gifts.  I was able to get both of my (adult) nephews a polar fleece shirt and coordinating turtleneck for ridiculously low prices.  I was also able to snag a cozy navy sweater and shirt for my mother’s boyfriend.  And since I was doing so well with shopping, I grabbed a few shirts for me as well.

So after buying 10 pieces of clothing at Lands End, 2 nightgowns for my daughter and a few decorations, how much did I have left on the gift card?  $45!

Off to Kmart:

I was feeling a little guilty about being given such an extravagant gift card from Sears, so I hit the Buy 2 Get One Free Sale on Playskool toys at Kmart.  Armed with the coupons from Coupons.com, I picked up an obscene amount of Toys and then dropped them off at a Toys For Tots drop-off.

So would you like to see how many deals you can get at Sears, Lands End or Kmart?  Well, I have TWO $50 gift cards to give away!

If I won I would buy some things to spruce up our home. We moved in over two years ago but have never had the $$$ to decorate it the way we would like b/c we are trying to pay off student loan debt and save for an adoption!

I would use this on an air compressor. I know. Super fun, right? The husband has been saying he wants one for years, so I need to comply at some point.

  10. Susie E. says:

I’d order winter clothes for my daughter (who is graduating from college and moving to the cold and snowy land in Ohio). When you live in the sunny south you have to totally re-creat your wardrobe for that white stuff called snow, much less moving from student land to the real world workforce!

  19. Penny says:

I would run to kmart and buy new xmas decorations since almost all of mine were lost in storage when I stumbled upon rough times 2 years ago. I had no tree last year so this year things are a little better but I only have a few lights on my tree.

I’d buy new bed sheets for my family. All of our sheets are full of holes and falling apart, so I’m saving up to buy some quality bedding that will last a long time. I know that they sell cheap sheets at dollar stores and Wal-Mart, but I can tell you from experience that they fall apart pretty quickly! I’d rather save the money for something that will last many years.

  26. Erin says:

I would buy my miracle Chloe Jeanne some developmental toys and a new oufit ot two :) I almost lost Chloe during delievery and what happened to her happens in less than 1% of the worlds population, I’m so grateful that she is here with me this Christmas.
