As a reminder, when I list the number of newspapers that I will be buying, I take in to account that I am able to get them at the Dollar Tree for only $1/copy. To find a Dollar Tree near you, click here. Don’t have a Dollar Tree? Check out your local dollar store. Many supermarkets even discount the Sunday paper. I also live in an area where all of the stores double up to $.99 (so a $.75 coupon is actually worth $1.50). If your newspapers are more expensive or you live where they don’t double coupons, you may not find the inserts of the same value as I do!
Do you live in the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Washington DC or Rhode Island area? Chances are you won’t be getting half of these coupons due to RedPlum/Valaissis’s decision to pull inserts from the newspapers in those areas and switch to direct mail. BringBackTheCoupons.com has been set up to provide you with ways that you can help convince RedPlum to reverse this decision. Just as an update, the site popped up on some online business journals and now has the attention of Tom Murray, VP of the Valaissis Corporation. We moms have more influence than you think on the Internets (ever hear of the Motrin Moms?), so please take a few minutes to let RedPlum advertisers know that, without their coupons, you will be forced to switch to other brands!
Anyway, here’s a link to the coupons this week
Coupons Of Note
Banana Nut Cheerios: $.40 this is a new flavor and is being promoted quite heavily. In the past few weeks it has been on sale for $2/box and part of Catalina deals
Cascadian Farms: $1 they always like to put a picture of cereal on the coupon (about $5/box), but there are many less expensive items like frozen fruits & veggies and juice concentrate!
Cheerios/Chex Mix: $.50 this goes on sale from anywhere to $2 to $1 per bag. General Mills can usually be counted on to run a Catalina deal including this every 4-6 weeks.
Colgate Adult or Kids Toothbrush/Toothpaste: $.75 (2 coupons) these go on sale all the time and often part of a “Free After ECB/SCR” deal at CVS/RiteAid
Dentyne Gum: $.75 you can always find these 10 for $10, making them free after doubling or even a moneymaker at those stores that will give overages with doubling
Fiber One Cereals: $.50 I absolutely ADORE the Raisin Bran Clusters (I won’t touch “traditional” Raisin Brans since this stuff came out). It goes on sale for $2-$2.50 and we are due for another Catalina deal on it, making it even cheaper)
Fiber One Toaster Pastries: $.50 these go on & off sale at 3 for $5 all the time, making them $.66 after doubling (oh – and I fully intend to find and make out with the guy who came up with the idea for the Chocolate Fudge ones! Try them heated – it’s just like a warm brownie!)
Joint Juice Product: $2 Taylortown is saying that there is just the 1 coupon, but other sites are reporting that there is this coupon and the “$1 off any” as well. If it does include the “$1 off any”, the single serve goes on sale 10 for $10 all the time (and the stuff isn’t bad!)
NatureSweet Cherry Tomatoes: $1/2 a coupon for produce? WOOHOO! (For my Philadelphia-area readers, I think that these are the brand that Acme is always selling BOGO)
Stonyfield Farm Organic Yogurt: 1 on $3 organic coupons are always good!
Crest Toothpaste or Liquid Gel: $.50 Acme has had quite a few 10 for $10 sales on the 4oz size and this coupon makes it free after doubling.
Hillshire Farm Deli Select Lunchmeat: $.55 this has been going on sale almost every week at one of the stores and we haven’t had a Deli Meat coupon from them in a while!
Kelloggs Coupons: there have been more & more sales on Kellogg’s cereals these days (including 50% off and deals where you get free milk wyb 4), so these will come in handy!
Starkist Pouch Product: B2G1F these go on sale for as low as $1 all the time and tuna is a great inexpensive source of protein
Uncle Bens Whole Grain Brown Rice: $.40 they haven’t put out many coupons for the non-flavored non-sodium-laden rice lately, so this coupon will bring the cost down to closer to the store-brand brown rice!
So how many copies of the paper would I buy?
If I was building a stockpile: 4-5
Now that I am in stockpile-maintenance mode: 3-4
Why so few? It’s not really that few! Buying 3-4 newspapers is actually a “normal” week for me when the coupons are “just average”…but I am looking forward to when I can tell you to go out and buy 12-15 copies of the paper, because we are long overdue for a week like that!
Have a great week!
