Walgreens: $5 Moneymaker on the Bayer Contour Breeze

contour

Sometimes timing is everything…..

Yesterday, Kim mentioned in the comments of the weekly CVS post that the Bayer Contour-Breeze monitor would be a $15 moneymaker this week because you could use the coupon that was in the 10/25 RP to get it for free and then submit for the $15 rebate.  Sadly, I had to inform her that it wouldn’t work, and I have the rebate rejection letters to prove it.  The companies that make the diabetes monitors (and the people that they hire to process the rebates) know to look on your receipt for the coupon and they will reject your rebate request when they see it.  The only exception that I have seen to this is when, for example, the monitor was $15 and you used a $10 coupon…you will get a $5 rebate.

So how CAN you make a monitor deal a moneymaker?  When there is an ECB/RR deal at CVS/Walgreens…and there is one this week (and another one coming up)!

This week at Walgreens, there is a Register Rewards deal on selected Bayer products:  Buy $20 and Get $5 back in Register Rewards (page 14 of my ad)

Through 10/31/09, Bayer monitors are on sale for $14.99.  The ad says “Limit 1″, but I believe that they mean “Limit 1 Mail-in Rebate”, so if you have 2 coupons, you can get 2 meters and use 2 $30 coupons from the 10/25 RP (both will be adjusted down to the purchase price of $14.99).  Pay nothing out-of-pocket and get $5 Register Rewards back!

If you don’t have 2 coupons, there will be another Register Rewards deal at Walgreens the week of November 8th!  Walgreens will be giving $5 Register Rewards when you purchase a Bayer Contour Meter and will again be priced at $14.99.  Use the $30 coupon from the 10/25 RP to pay nothing OOP and get $5 Register Rewards!

(thanks Mercedes!)

If you can wait, the deal the week of November 8th will be much better, as you will only need to use one of your coupons to get your Register Rewards!

Now, could you buy 1 monitor and 1 other Bayer product, like aspirin? Otherwise, I’m hoarding my monitor coupons!

I would like to do this deal but I don’t have any use for the monitor. Who or where could I donate it to? Any ideas?

    Mindi,

Thank you for the correction! Lesson learned! I was also informed from another friend of the same :) Sorry to anyone I may have misled and keep up the great work Mindi! You are awesome!

Hi- I was at Walgreens today and purchased the monitor. Unfortunately, what you get is not register rewards for $5, but a $5 coupons good on your next purchase of strips for the monitor. Just thought I’d share :(

I take my monitors to the diabetes clinic in my local hospital. You can also donate them to a free clinic if there is one in your area. But I’m pretty sure you can find a diabetes clinic. I just bought my monitor today and got my $5 register reward coupon.

I usually buy at least one of these when a RR or ECB deal comes around, but never once have I found one with a valid rebate- they expired on 1/31/09! I live in the Houston, TX area. Has anyone else gotten a current rebate?
