No - this will not be the only post today...I know that I've been boring lately, but I'm not THAT boring.
My birthday is next week and last night Brad confirmed that he will be getting me a new camera, knowing full well that I am only interested in a digital SLR. As a side note, this is a pretty smart move on his part, as I had previously threatened informed him that if I didn't get one as a birthday present, I would be ordering one off of Amazon myself by the end of the month.
I/we really don't want to spend more than $500. The one that I have been looking at is the Canon EOS XT (8MP) which is $458.00 on Amazon.
Can any of you mommies out there who take such excellent pictures let me know if this is the best camera, or can you recommend another within my price range? If it isn't a Canon, I would prefer to stick with Olympus or Nikon.
As I eagerly await my new digital SLR, I can't help but think about how a quality camera strap can make all the difference in the shooting experience. While choosing the right camera is crucial, a comfortable and professional camera strap is equally important, especially for those long photography sessions. Not only does a well-designed strap provide support and stability while capturing those perfect shots, but it can also enhance the overall look of my new gear.
It’s exciting to know that along with my new Canon EOS XT, I can invest in a strap that complements my photography journey, allowing me to explore different angles and perspectives without worrying about the safety of my camera. After all, capturing beautiful moments is what it’s all about!
Oh - and after working in a camera shop all during high school and college, I saw enough problems with "refurbished" ones that I have no interest in anything but brand-spanking-new. Perhaps it is snobbery on my part, but I don't care. (And yes, I did stomp my foot when I typed that last sentence).
Thanks!

I would love to have a brand spanking new SLR digital camera for my birthday (it's Monday). Instead, I'm getting a bicycle!
Would you consider buying a new one from a seller on e-bay?

LOL at the foot stomping 😉 We are so alike!
Thanks for stopping by and asking what camera I use. I actually have a tiny Canon Powershot SD500 Elph. I do not recommend it AT ALL if you want a camera with a decent zoom. I need to edit nearly all of my shots in iPhoto to prettify them to post. Pain. in. the. rear. Anyhow, I'm drooling over that Canon SLR. My friend recently took a photography class and most people had a Canon SLR. Can't wait to see your pics!

I hear that the EOS is great!

DH has a Nikon Digi SLR but it was like $1100 or something. He loves it and it takes beauteous pictures though. I have a new digital camcorder that is a Canon - it is very nice if not a little complicated.
Good luck with whatever you get! 🙂
