Not quite as fun as joining the Mile High Club, but....

    by Mindi Cherry

    FacebookPinEmail

    .....today I joined another club.

I started this thing in November, and really started posting (and getting more than 5 hits per day) just before Christmas.  Today I hit 10,000 page views.

Ten thousand in threee months.  Is that good?  Pathetic?  Average?  I don't know (and I don't think I want to know, especially if the answer is "pathetic.  absolutely pathetic.  it took you that long?  are you that big of a loser?").  I've tried to make no secret of the fact that when it comes to computers, I know where the on button is, how to link from Flickr & You tube and I sort of know how to add things to my sidebar (as long as it is text or handed to me in a nice idiot-proof way).  Beyond that, I am a technological dunce.  And I'm pretty much fine with that.

I would love to have you all over for a party to celebrate, but alas, those tubes aren't quite big enough for you to crawl through and I don't want you people messing up my house!

I however, will party tonight.  I have the supplies all ready.

And I wonder why I'm fat....

Thanks to everyone who keeps coming here and helping me hit that mark.  I still haven't figured out why you keep coming back, but I love each and every one of you (well, maybe not you - the one over there with the bitchy look on her face.  Lighten the fuck up already!)

Oh - and one final note of housekeeping.  I'm planning on changing the way I respond to comments and do what so many others do.  Rather than create a new comment to respond to your comments, I will be posting a response IN your comment in bold.  I think I can do it in Wordpress.  I see Allison doing it all the time. Perhaps I'll wait until after the beers have been consumed to try it....THAT will be fun!

Seriously, you lost me at the picture of the Butter Pecan. That is my favorite brand.

Yeah - I'm hoping that the 94% Fat Free Popcorn will balance out the Butter Pecan. Turkey Hill Ice cream rules!

I wish I could respond that way on my blog. I can't . Oh well.

Congrats on those 10,000 new friends.

This is kind of cool! You don't need that Blogspot anyway. Come over to Wordpress....every time I go to a Blogspot blog my computer freezes up for a few minutes. Of course, it could be because my computer is about 3 years old and ready to die......

      Congratulations Queen Mindi!

Oh Vampy - I am not a Queen. I am the Queen Mum, Mom to The Queen and Two Princes.
Pretty much that means I am the one wearing the silly hat

You can respond within the comment - I do it on wordpress all the time. Just hit "edit" next to their name and make sure to put your comments in a different "format" (bold, italics, etc).

      Congrats on 10k page hits!

      I figured it out!
Hey - is the blog that you have linked to your name in your comment a WP.com blog? If so, how do I go about having mine look like that? If it's just a matter of paying the $15/year for the CSS upgrade and the $10 (?) for the domain name - I'd be all over that!

Yes you can respond to comments that way. I learned that from Mrs. M so I do that too.

Just got to comments select and edit. I tend to reply to answer in Italics and sign my name ~Accountable.

      Have fun!!

Hey look! It works! Guess I'm not quite the idiot that I thought I was....
Oh yeah - I am (but now I'm an idiot who knows one more thing!)

Hi Mindi, the only problem with responding to comments that way on wordpress is that it doesn't push them to the top of the person's comments page the way a new comment by you would, so unless they think to come back to this post, they won't see it.

Hey, forgot to add congrats on hitting 10K. I don't know if that's good for that time frame or not (?) For comparison, I've been blogging since the end of September and I hit 15K today.. no idea if that's good, great, pathetic, or ??

It's a wordpress blog that is placed on my own host. (The host costs less than $100 a year and I host more than one blog + I will go e-commerce soon, besides ebay, so I needed the host).

I would ask Shannon, PHATmommy from Blissfully Simple if you can accomplish what you are looking to do using the CSS upgrade.

If I hit your page twice can I get 2 beers? Please?

lisamm: good point about the people not knowing if I reponded! I think that is only for fellow WP people though, correct? Perhaps I'll make a new comment for WP people and respond in the post for "outsiders". What to do, what to do....this is a problem. Not quite as big a problem as, say....genocide in Darfur....but a problem nonetheless ;-). As for the # and if it is a "good rate"....I don't know. Not sure if I really care. I know that there are blogs out there who get 10K hits per day, but I don't see me being one of them.

Darla: $100/year? I'm not up for that (although that's what I saved buying cereal the other day...but I don't think that Brad would be thrilled if I took that $100 to make my blog look better rather than paying the Direct TV bill.)

Busy Dad: I love you, but get your own damn beer. Besides - I forget what you always say is your favorite beer, but I know Yeungling isn't it. Do they even have Yeungling in California?

Ok, my sitemeter report just came in. I've had 1541 page views since I opened this blog on March 1 - but I didn't add my sitemeter until a few days after.

If you look at my "free" counter it says 1755 (which I have no idea what that means - other than 1755 have at least clicked on my site, not necessarily a particular page).

I'm guessing ya build up steam over time, so to me it sounds like you are right on track.

Congrats! I actually have no idea if that is good or pathetic but if you are happy then I say that is good, no? Have another beer my dear!

I read you every day, either through bloglines or right here.

You go girl. You are doing quite well, I must say.

      Keep us laughing 🙂

Mindi, whether or not we are wearing the silly hats, I still consider you a Queen! :o) If Queen Mum makes you happier, so be it my friend :o) xo

Hey, no beer at board meetings - how can you vote on things if you are sloshed? Oh yeah, the prez doesn't get a vote unless there is a tie. Carry on!

And you have all my favorite snacks: ice cream, pop corn and candy - I will be right there.
