So I have a confession to make:
I am fat!
I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life. After Thomas was born 10 years ago, I went on Weight Watchers, followed the plan and was 1.5 lbs from my goal weight when I got pregnant with Jonathan (yes – I cried….SO close).
Since Jonathan was born, I made half-hearted attempts to lose the weight, but still remained about 30 lbs overweight. Then this past summer hit and between the death of my brother-in-law, the kids constantly fighting and the growing demands of this website, I started “stress-eating” and didn’t stop, gaining 25 lbs since June.
Last week I rejoined Weight Watchers and found that I am 55 pounds from my goal weight. While I won’t say that the numbers on the scale shocked me, it was a very humbling moment. I was forced to take responsibility for my actions and take steps to correct them.
You may be thinking “why wouldn’t she wait until after the holidays to do that?”. The answer to that is simple: I was tired of making excuses as to why I would “start back soon”. I may not have lost any weight the first week, but because I was now back “On Program”, I made it through 2 very “pound packing” meals without gaining. I consider that a success!
