With 3 children, there is always a lot of running around to be done. I'm not talking about errands and driving...I an talking about running after them on the playground, playing in the snow, keeping them entertained (especially when they are younger) and more. They are up and going at the crack of dawn and don't stop all day! Oh - to have their energy!
Of course, we make sure to get in breakfast, lunch and dinner to keep our bodies going, but many times you need to recharge your body in the middle of a particularly busy day! Whether it is from working out, running or just playing with the kids, your body loses vital nutrients (and hydration) when you exercise. That can lead to feeling sluggish both mentally and physically. We've always been told to make sure that you drink plenty of water, especially after exercise to replace what you lose, but also important is to recharge your body with the right foods to give you the energy to get through the rest of your day!
Some of our favorite snack ideas are bananas, apples, a piece of cheese, granola bars and even cereal (I could easily eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner AND snacks every day). Something as simple as a bowl of Kellogg's Special K with Red Berries (with extra banana slices for more potassium) or Kellogg's Crunchy Nut cereal can give you the what you need to get over the slump.
Just take a look at all the important nutrients that you can get with 1 bowl of cereal:
My daughter's new favorite is the Kellogg's Fiber Plus with Antioxidents bars (especially the Chocolate Chip ones). I love that I can just throw one of those in her backpack in the morning for snack time at school.
See? Even her school understand the importance of having a snack to keep you awake and alert and keep going!
