With one exception, I have stayed away from all-things-politics on here. This isn't even really political, aside from the fact that he hosted a political show.
The news of Tim Russert's death of an apparent heart attack at the young age of 58 saddens me in a way that I don't think I can quite explain.
For the past 15 years, political talk shows have seemed to be all about who could scream the loudest and hurl the harshest invectives.
Yet over at NBC, Tim Russert continued to talk respectfully and calmly to his guests. He had a gift, and Meet The Press was his way of sharing his incredible talent with us. You just knew when he said "let me put what you said up on the screen", the guest was about to get his ass handed to him on a platter...politely, of course.
RIP Mr. Russert. You are already missed

Well said. Mr. Russert was an oasis of reason against a backdrop of partisan talking heads.

This just broke my heart. A Sunday morning staple. He was one of the few voices that you felt you could truly trust.
A very sad day . . .

I agree with leftcoastlibrul. He was a rock. I will miss him greatly.

I know what you mean...when I heard the news yesterday I couldn't believe it. It took me completely off-guard (as it did everyone). I've been glued to the tube whenever I've been in the house tyring to process this sad event.

You're 100% right--he is already missed. I miss the one political commentator that I could listen to without wanting to throw a shoe at my TV.

I was away Sunday AM, but TiVo'd Meet The Press as well as Chris Matthews...when I was watching the tributes they did for him, I actually started crying!
