Hey ladies! It's Fight the Frump Friday, sponsored by Fussy and it's time to talk about our bling.
This should come as a shock to none of you, but I have a serious love for jewelry and can't leave the house without it. And, having been born in April, I have the added bonus of having diamonds as my birthstone (although I don't think that Brad sees that as such a wonderful thing).
There are a few pieces that you will NEVER find me without, unless I am digging in the garden (highly unlikely - that's Brad's job) or swimming in the pool/ocean. Those are: my rings, earrings, my watch and my mother's bracelet. Recently I have been able to start wearing necklaces again without fearing they will be ripped off by a small child and I had no idea how much I missed wearing a necklace!
How much jewelry should you wear? That is a question only you can answer. I will say this: it should be more than Mother Teresa and less than Mr. T.
Having a "fat-face day"? (you know, that puffiness you get when Aunt Flo is visiting or you drank too much the night before?). A really kick-ass pair of earrings can perk up your spirits and even draw attention away from those dark circles and puffy cheeks.
Having a "I'm just wearing jeans and a turtleneck" day? The right necklace can transform your look from "frumpy" to "finished".
Going to a party and the only thing that fits you is a boring black dress? Add some chunky and/or sparkling jewelry and your look suddenly goes from "funeral" to "fabulous".
And for us big-hipped chicks? Adding some sparkle around your face (in the form of earrings and a necklace) draws attention away from that dreaded muffin top and fat ass! At least, that's what I am choosing to believe. Please don't try to convince me otherwise!
And so, in a shameless attempt to promote my business an attempt to clear out my inventory an effort to help you start thinking "outside the jewelry box", I'm offering 15% off all jewelry (not including full-size rosaries and mother's bracelets) on my website. To take advantage of this offer, simply email me with your order before March 31st. Ordering through the website won't give you the discount, so please email me directly or leave a comment on this post and I'll contact you. (I'll be adding more to the website daily. I have over 75 finished pieces that aren't up yet!).
Don't see anything on my website that suits your fancy? Before you run out to Nordstrom's/Macy's/Kohl's/Target/Claire's and buy anything mass-produced, please consider buying from any of the hundreds of talented jewelry makers on Etsy.
This concludes my most-boring-ever installment of FtF.

I don't wear jewelry...
I don't really know why...
When the body piercings closed, the jewelry came off...
I guess I've fallen out of touch. 🙁

You are spot-on with the idea that necklaces can take you from frumpy to finished. It is amazing! I like to wear more that one - I get compliments so it must be working... I will have to poke around your site a bit... Thanks!

Fantastic!!!
I have a darling friend, Miss Ruby, who says: "The bigger the jewelry you wear, the smaller your butt looks"
It's the truth.
Great frump fighting tips!!

You make beautiful jewelry. I am totally with you about how the right piece just finishes an outfit!

Not to take away from your jewelry - I would also like to add that Cold Water Creek has some nice jewelry too (I got a bunch when it was 50% off and free ship). I am in LOVE with the pieces I have!
They really do make the outfit. I'll look through your items.
HEY! Get to listin those other 75!! One of us might need them!

Great post- not wearing jewelry is like a cake with no frosting!

My birthday is in April too. I love that you are willing to give a generous discount! I will email you because I love wearing earrings and I've had my eye on a pair for several months now!

The weekend turned out to be busier than expected, so all I got up was a few necklaces. but I'm working on bracelets today...after I get the post up about grocery couponing....and Monday is always my biggest cleaning day (gotta keep to my Flylady schedule, donchaknow!)
And Darla? I love Coldwater Creek for everything, including their jewelry. I even have some of it....usually things that I couldn't make myself. MOF - my daughter just broke one of my favorite pieces the other day - a sterling and abalone bracelet. It went perfectly with the chartruese silk jacket I bought at CC last spring (at least the bracelet was one of those "gift with $100 purchase" freebies")
