So I weighed in this morning...and I'm down. How much down? 6.8 pounds.
But wait - it's really only .8 lbs
Why? To answer that I need to explain something. Remember my post about our family's Thanksgiving? Well, due to me eating enough food to feed a small third-world country, a party Friday night, my high-school reunion Saturday night and an "I've already blown this weekend so I might as well go for the beer, nachos and onion rings while I watch football" Sunday, I managed to pack on 6 pounds in a 4-day weekend (according to my Tuesday weigh-in). Last week, I did a "Skip the Scale" week (you go to the meeting, pay, but don't get your weight recorded). I knew I was still up and just didn't want that circled number in my card for 2 weeks in a row.
I weighed in this morning...I lost all of the 6lbs plus another .8lbs.
So why did it work for me this week? Could it work for you?
I guess it depends on the person. I'm a list-maker...that's why I like FlyLady so much. For me, there is something very comforting when I wake up in the morning, go down to make my coffee, open my Control Journal and know exactly what I have to get done that day, be it cleaning/housework stuff, playgroup, CCD, Weight Watchers meeting, Home & School Assoc. or MOMS Club committment.
Now I don't have to think "what am I going to have for breakfast? How can I figure out my points for the day so that I can still work in my 4:00pm chocolate craving? " It's all right there, planned out for me. I have planned a menu of healthy and high-density foods (AKA - ones that will keep me feeling full for a few hours) AND chocolate covered pretzels.
It's kinda cool! If I can keep this up, I can finally get rid of those last 11 pounds and hit Goal & Lifetime Membership!

Yes! It does work. I'm like you -- if I plan, I do great. I'm half way to goal after six weeks 🙂
And really, so what if you gained during the holidays! The point is what happens long term -- not in the short run....
