Having active babies in the house can be a challenge. They get in to everything and even the simplest thing can be dangerous to them.
When we had children, we took care of all the things that you know you have to babyproof: installing latches on cabinets, removing all the fragile tabletop decorations, etc. It turns out that wasn't quite enough. When my oldest started pulling himself up and walking, he loved to cruise around our coffee table in the family room. Since the coffee table has nice rounded corners, we really thought that we were "in the clear", but we didn't count on his little legs giving out after a minute or 2 of him walking. He pretty much had a permanent bruise on the middle of his forehead for 3 months from him head-banging the table!
Another thing that needs babyproofing is your baby himself! Anyone who has ever had to deal with a diaper blowout can tell you how un-fun they are! We won't get too graphic - you know what I mean!
