Nothing gets me out of the house quicker than the possiblity of free stuff (especially when the store is only 1.8 miles away) and when I saw my Avenu savings? I was out the door in a flash.
Here's my Acme trip:
- 14 Hamburger Helper Singles (I know, I know....but my husband LIKES pasta, dehydrated beef and powdered cheese in a cup!)
- 5 boxes Curves Fruit & Nut Cereal
- 4 Boxes Cocoa Puffs Combos
- 2 Minute Maid Lemonade half-gallons
- 1 Turkey Hill Diet Iced Tea
- 1 Fresh-baked Acme Italian Bread
- 8 2-liters Diet 7-UP
Coupons used: $.75/1 for each of the cereals, 5 HH coupons (3 $⅓ and 2 $1.10/3), coupon for free bread from completing a survey at the bottom of my last receipt, $½ Minute Maid and $.35/1 Iced Tea
Total paid: $4.60
(and I messed up...it should have been $3.60 with me getting an additional HH. I miscounted and should have got 15. The checker didn't even catch it, because the register SHOULD have beeped on the 5th HH coupon and it didn't. Had I got the additional one, my total would have been $1 more, but it would have "triggered" an additional $2 off as part of the "buy 4 Get $2 off promotion")
However, I do have some bad news for those of my readers that shop at the same Acme as I do....our beloved Jim McClay has been promoted and now works in the Corporate offices, as of yesterday.
However, there is a "new Jim" (they called him "grey-haired Jim" as opposed to "bald Jim") and he seems pretty nice!
ETA: (you know...re-reading this, I see I used "however" and "should have" WAY too much. Eh - I'm too tired to fix it right now!)

Ohhhh I am very sad to see Jim McClay gone, though the female manager is nice. And Bald Jim is great too.

Oh, I liked Jim McCaly. I just talked to him on Sunday, or should I say complained to him about expired products being on the shelf. The female manager was nice also.

I actually like Hamburger helper too. Although I've never heard of the singles.
