Wanna know why I am such a big fan of Dove products? It has nothing to do with the fact that they sent me 3 bottles of body wash (I've been using the products for years) and has EVERYTHING to do with them making commericials like this:
My teen years and early-20s were spent never feeling as if I was "pretty enough". I wish that there had been commercials like this when I was a kid!

I'd take the Dove self-esteem campaigns more seriously if Unilever wasn't also responsible for those trashy Axe commercials that feature heavily made up, razor-thin women who act like sex-crazed airheads. It's hypocritical and disingenuous to preach about "Real Beauty" to your female customers, and then go on to perpetuate the very stereotypes they are denouncing while advertising to men. If Unilever actually cared about these issues beyond how much free publicity they're getting, then they would put their money where their mouth is and send a consistent message across all of their products.
