How To Whiten Teeth Naturally
Everyone wants whiter teeth. It is just something that happens over time. Foods, drinks, smoking, and age can all affect the appearance of our teeth. Most people default and go to the grocery store and buy the whole teeth whitening line of products which can include toothpaste, mouth wash, strips, gel, and even gum, but if you sit down and read those ingredients lists you might step back and decide that is not such a good idea. They are full of chemicals and words the average person will never recognize. Some people will even go to the dentist and spend a bunch of money for a professional treatment. If you know how to whiten teeth using all natural products, you can save yourself time, money and unnecessary chemicals!
Baking Soda - Brushing your teeth with baking soda 2-3 times a day can help to reduce discoloration on your teeth. (and don't forget about the many other uses for baking soda! It's really one of the most frugal things that you can use!)
Strawberries - Strawberries contain an enzyme in them that actually whiten your teeth. This might not sound pleasant, but mash up a strawberry and then rub it on your teeth with your finger for approximately one minute. Follow that by rinsing your mouth and then flossing any seeds out from between your teeth.
Cheese - Cheese has a high phosphate content which helps balance the pH in your mouth (pH is acidic and encourages the growth of cavity causing bacteria); cheese also helps to preserve and rebuild tooth enamel as well as produce saliva (something that helps kill bacteria and gum disease).
Sesame Seeds - It was through anthropologists that we learned that seeds were primitive people's ways of keeping their teeth healthy. The reason behind this is because these seeds help to slough off plaque and help to rebuild tooth enamel which will keep your teeth nice and strong.
Lemon - The acid in lemon juice is great for your teeth. It helps to break down foods and bacteria.
Finding a way to incorporate all of these different items into your daily routine might seem daunting at first, but here are some suggestions for you:
- Add a sprinkle of baking soda to your toothpaste or you could make your own toothpaste with a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda.
- After brushing your teeth you can incorporate the strawberries in as a replacement to mouth wash.
- Cheese is a great way to end your meals and help clean off food from your teeth naturally
- Mix sesame seeds in with steamed vegetables and salads.
