I was lucky....when everyone was losing their minds over Zhu Zhu pets this past Christmas, Elizabeth had yet to discover them. I was spared the craziness of trying to find them for her.
Unfortunately, that didn't last long. By February, they were back on the shelves at Target and Elizabeth fell in love with them. We started buying them up for her and it was a toy that she could play with and not have to worry about her brothers bothering her (everything she had was pink). And then it happened....
I was contacted by the people at Kung Zhu and MomSelect to see if I wanted to take a look at the new Kung Zhu products. Of course, I said yes! I may have mentioned before that we have a whole bunch of boys in my neighborhood that are the same age as my boys. We waited until it was one of our regular "Fun Nights" to start opening it up and putting everything together. One of the boys scoffed "Girl stuff dressed up in boys clothes" (he's the "cool dude" of the neighborhood). Well, within 10 minutes, all of them were having a ball!
Kung Zhu Hamsters feature two battling groups called Special Forces and Ninja Warriors. Kung Zhu Pet owners will have the thrill of training each character to transform into fighting, battling warriors. All Kung Zhu hamsters start off as "cute mild-mannered pets" but once they are sent into their training ground playsets, and they "complete their training" (finish to the end of the courses) you will actually hear a distinct personality transformation… as they become fighting ninja and warriors.
The "hub" of the Kung Zhu-niverse is the Battle Arena, but there are a ton of additional training grounds that can be added. They are even compatible with the "regular Zhu Zhu pets" tracks and habitats, so your warrior can duck in to the Beauty Salon on their way to their next battle (guaranteed to drive your brother crazy!)
We've had our Kung Zhu sets for over a month now and the kids continue to play with them every day. They are most definitely NOT "Girl stuff dressed up in boys clothes".
Kung Zhu is available at Toys R Us, Target, Amazon.com and many other major retail stores. Kung Zhu ranges in price from $9.99 for a hamster up to $29.99 for the Battle Arena and the armor and training grounds comes in right between the two prices.
Disclosure: I was provided the Kung Zhu pets and set to review by MomSelect. The opinions in this post are entirely my own. This post has not been reviewed or edited by anyone. I was not compensated in any other way for this review

Awesome!! My 5 year old daughter recently became interested in the Zhu Zhu pets and just a week ago my (newly) 9 year old son added it to his birthday wish list. Unfortunately he added it after I had already shopped for all of his presents. I'm thinking if they are still interested in them by Christmas that maybe I'll grab a bunch of the pets and gear so that they can create little hamster worlds. My 2 year old would love them too- he just doesn't know about them yet!
