With the news that more and more middle-class families are showing up at food pantries and food banks, some people might be getting to the point where they need more help than just using coupons.
One place that I became aware of through Handprints on The Wall (and doesn't she make great headers?) is Angel Food Ministry. She did a review on the quality of products that she received in her $30 box of food here. I went on the site for Angel Food, entered my zip code, and was shocked to see 4 distribution sites within a 10 miles of my nice little suburban enclave.
If you need help, you might try Angel Food Ministry or just Google "food pantry" or "food bank" and your town or county. I knew that there was 1 in our area...but I had no idea how many there were until I Googled it!
And just as there is no shame in being frugal, there is also no shame in using a food bank/pantry if your family is struggling.
But please - if you find yourself in need of help, once you are no longer struggling please remember those who helped you and donate your time and/or money so that you can pay that kindness forward.
