Welcome to "Moms Need to Know"!

    Welcome to MNTK!

Here you will find information and advice on living within your budget, while still having time (and money) to enjoy life.

My name is Mindi.  I live in Suburbia and my husband and I always joke that "We the Po' Folk" in our neighborhood.  My husband makes a nice living and we do own our own home and two (albeit older) cars.  I am a stay-at-home mom to my 3 children and have been since the day they were born.

Yet for many years we found ourselves struggling to pay bills and putting more & more on the credit cards.  If not for a few very-generous monetary gifts from my in-laws, I likely would have needed to go back to work.  While that certainly wouldn't be the end of the world, it wasn't anything I wanted to do.  There was always food on the table and heat pouring through our vents, but we had little to no money for the "extras".  Even the occasional dinner at Applebee's was out of the question.

A little less than a year ago, I made some major changes in my life as a mother and a home economist and those changes have helped to free up so much money for us.  Through careful planning, we have managed to pay off our credit cards as well as pay for some previously-out-of-the-question extras.

It is here that I hope to share with you what I have learned and hopefully learn something from you!

Just remember - there is no shame in being frugal!
