Make Your Own Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes

What child doesn't like donuts and fresh from the fryer donuts are just the best! These cinnamon sugar donut holes are really easy to make.

Of course, like anything fried in oil, the downside of making these is that your home might smell like oil for a few hours but that is why I like to make these in the Spring, Summer and Fall - or any time that it is warm enough to open up the windows and let the smells go out the window! It's that time of year! (and when I can't do that, I like to make this chocolate glazed baked donut recipe - they are just as easy!)

This recipe uses store-bought refrigerated dough to make it and, while it may seem strange to use pizza dough, it really is the best one to use. I remember a few years ago watching Paula Deen use the refrigerated biscuit dough to make them (just cut each biscuit in to quarters and roll in to a ball before dropping in the oil) and, while they were tasty, they were just too dense for my childrens' tastes. We even tried crescent rolls and they didn't turn out so well. Pizza dough really is the best choice.

If you have a deep fat fryer, you will want to use that to make sure that you keep the oil at just the right temperature while you are doing several batches. Otherwise, just use a heavy skillet with a thermometer to ensure that the oil doesn't get too hot!

Lastly, you can make these powdered sugar donuts as well - they are just as good. Simply switch out the cinnamon & sugar for the powdered sugar!

Ok - on to the recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes! You will need:

    ¼ cup Sugar

    1. Heat oil to 335F (use the setting on your deep fat fryer or a heavy skillet with a thermometer to make sure that you get the oil temperature accurate).
